Tour 3- The Burren & Connemara

Day 1 Galway
The City of the Tribes, as Galway City is known, is a wonderful place to start your tour. You get to sample the history of this city that was founded by 14 families whose legacy still lives on up to the present day. The city lies at the mouth of the River Corrib as it enters the Galway Bay and is discreetly divided by narrow canals that are frequented mainly by ducks and swans and the odd kayaking group.
Day 2 Galway - Oughterard - Cong
Cycling from Galway, you have the option of cycling to the coastal village of Spiddal via the coast road and then through to the picturesque village of Oughterard via Moycullen or cycle directly to Outherard from galway. You will then sail with Corrib Cruises from Oughterard to Inchagoill Island where you will have a guided tour of 5th and 12th century ruins of Saint Patrick's Church and The Church of the Saint, respectively. You will then continue with Corrib Cruises to one of the finest Castles in Ireland, Ashford Castle, with it's many fine gardens.
Day 3 Cong - Lough Mask - Finny - Clonbur - Cong
You will conquer Lough Mask by taking a cycle around its borders, through the town of Ballinrobe, Northwards to Partry, then Southwards adjacent to the Party Mountains through Tourmakeady on to Maumtrasna, back through picturesque Finny, into the village of Clonbur before returning to Cong.
Day 4 Cong - Cornamona - Maam - Leenane
Hopping on your bicycle, you will head Westwards to Cornamona, along the banks of Lough Corrib through Maam and down into the wonderfully scenic village of Leenane which sits at the head of Ireland's most spectacular fjord, Killary.
Day 5 Leenane - Gowlawn Bay - Renvyle - Clifden
Cycling Westwards, you will journey towards Tully Cross via the scenic Gowlawn Bay. From Tully Cross, you will cycle further West to Renyvle Peninsula, a relaxing and refreshing place far from the pressures of city life that has been shaped by nature, time and the people who call it home. Returning via Letterfrack village which lies just outside the Connemara National Park, you will get to visit Kylemore Abbey abbey, and then into Connemara's capital, Clifden..
Day 6 Clifden Sky Road - Ballyconneely- Roundstone - Clifden
In the morning, you have the opportunity to explore the beautiful vistas that the Sky Road has to offer as you first take the High Road and return by the Low Road. Next, you'll be breathing in the cool, refreshing air coiming in off the Atlantic Ocean as you cycle along the skirts of Coral Strand on your way to Ballyconneely with it's many beautiful beaches. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy Gorteen Beach, and soak up the scenery in the beautifully picturesque fishing village of Roundstone before passing by many little lakes that dot the Connemara landscape on your return to Clifden via Recess.
Day 7 Clifden - Rosaveal - The Aran Islands - Kilfenora
In the morning, you'll be shuttled by Bus to Rosaveal where you will board a boat for the Aran Islands. Inishmore is the largest of the three islands and the best mode of transport is by bicycle and you will find that you will not be alone as you explore it's many ruins nad high stone walls including the famous stone age fort, Dun Aengus whose stronghold looms high above the crashing waves of the Atlantic ocean. You will then take another boat across to the Burren, where you will get off at the very lively village of Doolin where traditional music is played in many of its pubs. You will end your trip for the day at Kilfenora located on the south-west border of the Burren.
Day 8 Kilfenora - Lahinch - Cliffs of Moher - Lisdoonvarna
Cycling through Ennistimon, you will visit the surfing town of Lahinch and relax on it's beautiful beaches. Moving from there, via the coast, through Liscannor, you will cycle to the majestic Cliffs of Moher and can take a walk out to Hag's Head and breathe in the warm, refreshing air coming in from the Atlantic Ocean. You will then cycle on to the Spa town of Lisdoonvarna, famous, not only for its Spa but also for it's yearly matchmaking festival.
Day 9 Lisdoonvarna - Corkscrew Hill - Ballyvaughan - Fanore
Cycling Northwards, you will pass by many Stone Forts, including Cahermacnaghten before reaching Corkscrew Hill, so-called due to the roads unusually sharp bends, that starts with a breathtaking view that stretches out for miles towards Galway Bay. Your descent down this hill will bring you into the colourfully coastal village of Ballyvaughan. Then taking the Coastal Road you will cycle to the beautiful beaches of Fanore but first stopping off at Black Head to take in the views across Galway Bay of the Connemara Mountains and the Aran Islands.
