St. Joseph's has been a Bed & Breakfast premises for over 35 years having originally been opened by John and Bridget Woods. Christina, their daughter, now married to Seamus, continues the business in the same traditional way refurbishing the l9th century townhouse to an excellent standard.
Situated in one of the prettiest and unspoilt villages in Ireland, St. Joseph's offers comfortable ensuite accommodation in a warm family atmosphere overlooking Roundstone Harbour (the subject of many movies and the base of many renowned Irish artists). Close by are Gurteen & Dogs Bay beaches - well known and loved by guests who return to St. Joseph's on a regular basis
In Roundstone you will find a busy little harbour, where local fishermen prepare and return with the day's catches of lobster, crayfish, crab and mackerel, plus a variety of other fish. The village of Roundstone is situated in the heart of Connemara, and is one of the oldest fishing villages on the west coast, and is an area of much natural beauty, as well as being the birth place and inspiration for much of Ireland's artistic creations. It has also been described many times as a "botanist's delight" as many wild flowers, rare to this country, are found. Roundstone enjoys an unparalleled view of the Twelve Bens and is bordered by the vast Atlantic ocean.
Remarks in our visitor's book serve as an acknowledgement of our guests' comfort and promises to return. Centrally located restaurants and bars are easy to access, all of which are well known for their excellent menus, in particular their seafood.
