History - Stair
The thatched seaside clubhouse is the ancestral home of the founders of the Connemara Isles Golf Club John, Tony and Cathal Lynch
Their great grandfather built the house in 1850 when he returned from America as one of the survivors of the ill-fated emigrant Famine ship the Brig St. John. The Brig St. John was wrecked on rocks near Boston Harbour in Cape Cod in October 1849, having only left Galway the previous month with 120 on board. Read More
You will see ruins of pre-famine houses near the sixth green.
The sea around the golf course is famous for it natural oyster and scallop beds. During the summer you can enjoy the traditional boating festivals from Currach racing to Hooker racing. This area offers you a unique opportunity to experience the Conamara culture at its finest.
The Course - An Cúrsa
Architecturally designed and constructed by Irish international and walker cup player the late Tom Craddock and architect Pat Ruddy, who also co-designed the world famous course at Druids Glen.
Established in 1993, this charming and challenging course is set in tranquil links at Eanach Mheáin. The flora and fauna of the course provide a colourful backdrop to a magnificent golf course. A causeway from the mainland brings an island into play where ocean inlets and rocky outcrops provide natural hazards demanding steady nerves.
However, there is a great solitude and serenity here in this peaceful and unpolluted world apart. The Connemara Isles Golf Club has played host to many well known golfers among them is Christy O’ Connor Junior and Senior and Bob Cameron Senior PGA European Tour.
